  1. Why talk of 2009 when it hasn't even started?

  2. Strange question...

I think you mean rotation & bullpen not just bullpen!

The chances of the Yankees keeping Ponson to me seem pretty rare. He is a back end of the rotation guy & not a very good one at that. I think more realistic free agent signing would be CC.

    A rotation of :

Joba, CC, Wang, Moose, Hughes would be formidable if not the best in baseball. But remember that Moose is also a free agent & not a shoe in for the yankees. Also Pettie is on the same route.

    The bullpen:

Is to me what would be the biggest weakness for the Yankees again next year like it has been in many years past. However if Bruney can get back to where he was in the begginig of the year & Ramirez & Veras can find it again, they will have a chance. Mo is Mo consitancy is normal.

With a starting rotation with that & a couple more free agent deals for the offense they really should have a good chance to dominate next year. If they sign CC & Texiera they could just rake all season.

  3. and if Whitey Ford comes back  its world series time

  4. You put three aces in your bullpen?

Edit: okay, so now you said bullpen and rotation, so...

If a Sheets/Peavy deal happens, then the Yankees probably won't have enough money to resign Abreu, Damon, Pettite, Mussina, and Giambi. And as for Garcia, I think they'd rather have their young pitchers pitch then risk a fragile pitcher like Garcia. I can envision one ace at most going to New York, but then I see Mussina leaving. A world series is possible for any team next year. Anything can happen. Just look at the surprising Rays and disappointing Tigers.

  5. No offense dude, but you should take some more classes. If everyone's in the bullpen, who's starting? Derek Jeter? And why would the Yanks want Freddy Garcia? He's out of his prime already, and I can see Sheets and Peavy staying in the NL

  6. I am not sure about your forecast of things to come but one thing for sure is that the Yankees will do everything possible to field a winning team.

  7. How about you worry about 2008 before thinking about next season?  Also maybe get a baseball almanac and learn who are starters and who are relievers.  There's no way Jake Peavy or Ben Sheets go to New York to pitch in the bullpen.  h**l I really doubt any big name free agnet will land in New York next season.  Yes they want their huge pay day, but why get the huge payday for a team that will blow it come the playoffs anyways.  You have to understand that the Yankees are only getting older and nearing the end of their careers (Giambi, Posada, Pudge, Damon, Mussina, Petite).  Also Jeter, ARod, Abreu and Matsui aren't getting any younger either.  They're not too old, but they are getting up there in playing age.

  8. Not a chance the front office has to learn that signing a bunch of All-Stars and having the biggest payroll won't always win a championship, you need chemistry the Yankees from the 90s had that. Look at the Marlins their payroll was around $20 million when they won the World Series (against the Yankees).

  9. Your Bullpen you have like 3 aces in there. They will win the AL East in 2009 but in 2008, I think they'll win the wild card.

  10. If they actually sign a pitcher, but the yankees are really in trouble because of the age of their team. Damon, posada, petite, mussina, are at the end of their careers, their bullpen is really thin, which is why when regular injuries hapen to them like they do to every team it really cripples them because they have no depth. they aren't as bad as they used to be but they keep getting rid of talented pitching for bats and it always kills them. The trade for ivan was just stupid. they never look for long term solutions and are always paying for right now and it is catching up to them.

  11. Maybe... but right now the 2009 Yanx are 0-0, just like the other 29 teams.

Of course, if Cashman keeps making brilliant moves like, oh, signing Sexson (while Bonds was available, among others), then don't put too much hope on October baseball in the new playpen.

But at least ticket prices will be the highest in the entire MLB, so that'll be something to hold forth with pinstriped pride.

  12. The Yankees should consider rebuilding because the Yankees are getting nowhere by signing old guys with past glory and the fact that by doing this they manage to sneak by into the off season. It could be possible if they sign Sabathia or Sheets, but that's pretty much about it.

  13. no if they get peavy and sheets and garcia they will be hella good but still lose in the playoffs they cantcome back i love the yankees but they will lose in the playoffs

  14. Nope
