New York Yankees 2012 regular season review – Part 16
New York Yankees continued their domination over the Boston Red Sox in Game 2 of a three match series as well. Embarrassing the Red Sox in front of their home crowd, the Yankees secured their second straight win at Fenway Park in Boston. With their win,
Joe Girardi and his men took an impassable 2-0 series lead and it seemed obvious that they will go one to thrash the Red Sox 3-0.
Yankees’ batting lineup looked hot in 15-9 win against Boston in Game 2 of the series. It was a stunning win for the Yankees considering the Red Sox held a nine run lead at one stage of the match. New Yorkers were determined to turn things around after conceding
the early lead and they pounced on every opportunity to secure one of their best come back from behind victories.
Red Sox made a dream start to the contest. They scored runs freely early on. Adrian Gonzalez, David Ortiz, Mike Aviles and Dustin Pedroia made valuable contributions to help their side claim an apparently impassable 9-0 lead but the Yankees were destined
to be the winners.
Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher combined to hit three back to back home runs to spark one of the best come backs of all times. Russell Martin and Derek Jeter also drove in crucial runs to give Yankees a decisive 15-9 lead in the eighth inning.
"You're down 9-0 and Tex hits what looks like an innocent home run. Then we come back with back-to-back seven-run innings," Girardi said. "I don't think I've ever been a part of that."http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/5937/nick-swisher"That was pretty cool," Teixeira said. "I've played a lot of games, and that may be the most fun regular-season game I've ever been a part of."
"I've been booed in a couple of countries, a few different stadiums. I don't want to be booed," said Valentine. "If they said it was only going to be for the good days, I probably wouldn't have come. The challenges are great."
Yankees’ starter Freddy Garcia had a horrendous time on the mound as he allowed seven hits and five runs in just over an inning but he was fortunate to end up on the winning side.
