New York Yankees' centre fielder Curtis Granderson feels alright after MRI examination – MLB News
The New York Yankees' centre fielder Curtis Granderson has been given the green flag by the team doctors after his MRI reports were alright regarding his right hamstring.
This is also a healthy sign for the Yankees who need Granderson more than anything at the moment. His form has given the Yankees’ many wins while as soon as the season gets competitive, his game in the roster is essential.
Yankees’ veteran left the game against the Orioles in pain and needed a potential checkup but now reports are coming that his hamstring is not serious and he will be playing again soon.
“They said it was tendinitis where the bone and joint come together, I could have stayed in the game, the only issue was if I had to really go run,” said Granderson.
Later Girardi said, “If it’s a strain, that’s a minimum of two weeks, and at this time of the year it’s hard to overcome.”
Girardi added, "We've had to put some guys in there that usually don't hit fourth, these guys have tried to grind out their at-bats. Hopefully you get some guys back."
Currently Granderson is playing with .235 hitting along with 34 homers, 79 RBIs and .326 OBP.
His career .263 hitting along with 201 homers, 564 RBIs and .343 OBP also makes him a good role player in the field.
Meanwhile, Yankees are also feeling troubled with their veteran pitcher Andy Pettitte who has not been given the permission to pitch again.
“I am not sure what date that will be, we will go day by day, it shouldn’t be long,” Girardi said of Pettitte.
Andy Pettitte with his 16-year Major League experience is a highly competitive individual and has been performing with best of his abilities for the Yankees.
His potential return in the season will be a morale boosting factor for the Yankees.
Before missing out from the rotation, Pettitte was playing with a 3.22 ERA along with 3-3 win-loss record, 59 strike-outs and 1.09 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career ERA of 3.87 along with 243-141 win-loss, 2310 strike-outs and 1.35 WHIP also makes him one of the best players available in the league.
