New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez expected to return on August 15 – MLB News
Alex Rodriguez who had to undergo arthroscopic surgery last month is expected to return on August 15 during a series scheduled against the Kansas City Royals, stated the New York Yankees’ team manager Joe Girardi. The news has predictably cheered up many
fans.
"He's starting to do things that would get you to the point where he's getting closer to a game," Girardi said. "The last thing probably to come would be sprinting and running the bases."
Alex Rodriguez was placed in the disabled-list last month when he had to suddenly leave the ballpark owing to left arm strain, something he and his team did not anticipate. While there was no such anticipation, the New York Yankees took a risk that worsened
the problem.
He was called off after he had a strain in the left arm in the Seattle Mariners game where the Yankees won by 9-5. But he was included in the line-up once again the following week which – much to the chagrin of everyone concerned, proved an imprudent decision.
Having found himself in trouble while running, Rodriguez was quickly replaced by Austin Kerns. But since then, Rodriguez is taking time to regain his fitness back so as to return to the team just when the Yankees need him.
The manager Joe Girardi had expressed his satisfaction once the third baseman Rodriguez underwent surgery. "I talked to him the day after [the surgery], and it went well," Girardi said. "Now it's just start rehabbing, start slow and hopefully we can get
him back as soon as possible."
But it has taken a while to recover from that as he was initially placed in 15-day disabled list. Since a month has elapsed after the injury, Alex Rodriguez is reported to have started taking batting practice, news that will be welcome for the New York Yankees
fans.
His Minor League rehab shall be kicked off this Friday, August 12. It remains open to question as to how long it will take Rodriguez before he swings his bat with the ferocity he is famously known for throughout baseball.
The mega-star of the Yankees has played 80 games in this season so far prior to the injury that took him away from the regular games. With 305 at-bats, he has scored 53 runs which include 13 home-runs with 52 RBIs, maintaining an average of 2.95 and .366
OBP.
Alex Rodriguez has played a total of 2383 games with 17 years of experience in his impressive credential. Having 2762 hits to his credit with 1810 runs and 626 home-runs, he has a career average of .302, an achievement that remains a source of inspiration
and envy for the baseball players.
