New York Yankees’ Andy Pettitte looks confident in his first bullpen session – MLB News
The New York Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte is showing some great confidence ahead of next Major League Baseball season as he recently completed a full bullpen session with the team giving the management belief that they have a fair chance in this particular year to win the title.
Last season, Pettitte was not much influential with the ball. His throw seemed no strength as he was hit by several low profile hitters receiving criticism from many experts. Pettitte is a serious campaigner and knows where to unfold his game. His comeback with healthy game approach is giving him the level of ease he wanted.
But it seems that his hard-work in this offseason paid off as he made his return with enormous power and now possesses the confidence of the team.
Busy in Spring Training, Pettitte knows his team is counting on him and he has to perform in the coming big event to produce good and consistent results.
“There’s not because I know that can happen,” Pettitte said. “I know that I can hurt something. But I’m not scared of that. It’s a great opportunity. It’s a great challenge. But it’s a good challenge also to see if I can get back to where I was.”
Pettitte added, “I told [pitching coach] Larry [Rothschild] as soon as I got done, ‘You’re gonna have to tell me to take it slow, It’s going to be hard. I’m glad I feel good right now, but I know if I get too far ahead of myself, I could have a setback.”
Manager Joe Girardi is also happy the way Pettitte is playing lately in the Spring Training. The Yankees know as they have a fair chance in the upcoming season, but to achieve good results and potential chance of winning the World Series battle, they need to focus on their current infield.
Experts believe that Yankees are a world class side, but lack of offensiveness and less self-belief often makes things more vulnerable for them. In order to show complete authority on the game, they need to play like a one unit from now onwards.
