New York Yankees’ Charles Sabathia will undergo knee surgery
The New York Yankees will be looking on to add more power in their pitching department in the coming days as the 2010 season is looking to pass soon. Manager Joe Girardi will want Cliff Lee to join the team when the off season
comes. However, much of the problems in the pitching corner have less to do with form than with injuries. During the regular season, many players in the roster made their way to the infirmary. Unfortunately, that fact is a recurring reality as many players
are looking to get back in shape and do away with any issues regarding their physical health.
Carsten Charles Sabathia is one of the players to hit the injured list and this news comes days after the Yankees crashed out of the American League Championship. The ace man joins the list with Andy Pettitte who was having a worse
off time on the field as he kept his pain a secret from the press. Fans will be hoping for the player to recover and be fit for the next campaign which will start next year. With an off season tenure hitting the surface, there will be time for the big man
to recuperate and add on more spice to his attack in pitching.
Sabathia was instrumental in getting the Yanks to the wildcard berth position in the American League East Division. The ball player leads the list in wins with 21 in the regular season, and his 197 strike outs are considered to
be ranked at 6th. The pitcher carried a low Earning Runs Average of 3.18, throughout the season, but his performance in the postseason was least admirable. His last encounter saw his average go up to 6.30.
Sabathia was diagnosed on the 26th of October at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and now, recent news dictates that the player will undergo surgery in the coming days. The procedure isn’t regarded by the Yankees management
as a serious one. However, the expected time of recovery is considered to be three weeks and many believe the ball thrower will be back to his pitching ways in the spring.
