New York Yankees Derek Jeter might move to outfield in future – MLB News
It looks like the New York Yankees might move their star player Derek Jeter to the outfield in the future. Although this is not confirmed, but this notion has been recently floating around the camp.
Yankees general manager Cashman, president Randy Levine and owner Hal Steinbrenner met with Jeter recently to discuss different things regarding his contract. It seems the Yankees will do what it takes to retain their star player and are already starting
their meetings with Jeter and his agent on this point.
Cashman said, “He is one of the most talented player of the team but his athletic capabilities would capable him to make his position in the outfield which is the most tough position of the game because when the batter hits the pitching ball, it is very
hard hitting.”
It seems that Jeter could possibly move to the outfield in the future as the team recognises the immense talent that he has. He can theoretically play at any position, as he is one of the best players in Major League Baseball. He is respected throughout
the league by both players and managers alike.
Longtime manager Lou Piniella said, “I believe that Derek is a player who can play in all the positions. I saw his match very often, he is a talented player.”
The amount of respect the Jeter has in the league is tremendous. He is known to give a hundred percent when he is on the field. He is true Yankees player with an immense fan following all over the country. It seems that the Yankees want Jeter for as long
as they can possibly have him. Thus, they will do whatever it takes to put in the field position where he does not have to strain or quite possibly get injured.
Derek Jeter is a fixture of the Yankees and his talent and competitive spirit is second to none in the League. Whatever position Jeter plays, you can expect that he will excel and achieve top marks for the Yankees during the regular and post-season play.
