New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman expects Jorge Posada to make a run at the Hall of Fame
Long-time New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman thinks even brighter for his catcher Jorge Posada, who retired at the age of 40 after spending 16 seasons in Major League Baseball, as he will probably some day make a run at the Hall of Fame.
Cashman spoke confidently for Posada on Wednesday saying, “Sometimes there are rough patches in everyone’s career, but you try to get through them. We obviously had a rough patch this year … but we all fought through it.”
He further added expecting Posada to “make a run at the Hall of Fame” and added that last season’s controversy was “like a mosquito bite on a career of his nothing but positives.”
Cashman has spent his almost entire career serving the Yankees from an intern to become a Major League team manager in 1998. He has seen Posada’s game closely especially in all four particular World Series finals in which the Yankees stood tall against their opposing teams. Those four particular World Series deciders were including Jorge Posada’s tremendous behind the plate catches and extraordinary hitting capabilities.
Later, Posada’s team-mates Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera also commented in the media of his sheer talent. According to Rivera, Posada’s, “fire, determination, passion and drive for the game [will be missed]. He was always pushing to get better.”
While Derek Jeter told the media, “I know how much playing here meant to him. It’ll be tough without him around.”
Cashman was also disappointed to hear about Posada’s retirement as he has recently stated in the media during annual winter meeting as 2012 will be a great season for the Yankees. He explained that entire senior roster of Yankees are planning hard to compete well in the upcoming season most importantly for grabbing another World Series title.
Not only did this news put Cashman’s earlier statement on the back page but also rattled the Yankees desperate efforts to make a run again at the World Series Championship.
Posada leaves with career .273 hitting average together with 275 home-runs, 1065 RBIs and .374 receiving appreciation from many baseball experts.
