New York Yankees’ GM Brian Cashman meets agent of C.J. Wilson, Roy Oswalt – MLB News

The New York Yankees general Manager Brian Cashman met with what the baseball experts believe is the most searched agent these days – Bob Garber. The person, who is representing the two most valuable free agents, C.J. Wilson and Roy Oswalt, had a meeting
with Brian Cashman at baseball’s annual GM meetings.
Cashman could not get time to meet any other free agent, but the baseball experts believe the GM has met with what they considered as their favourite. Former Texas Rangers’ C.J. Wilson and former Philadelphia Phillies, Roy Oswalt are two of the most hunted
starters in this year’s free agent market. As the New York Yankees are hoping to get their rotation perfect in the 2012 season to avoid any shakiness, club officials showed interest in hiring one of the two strong pitchers.
Cashman met with Garber at his room in Pfister Hotel in the afternoon as both discussed the options for the pitchers for about six hours.
"I've been sequestered all day so I've only had time to meet with one agent," Cashman said. "I've had a number of agents who have texted me, asking for times to meet. I've responded to all of them, but Garber was like, 'I can meet right now,' so I said 'All
right, come on up.'"
However Cashman removed all the speculations even before stating that he has not made any offer yet. He made it clear that he was not in a rush.
This past season, the 34-year-old, Oswalt went 9-10 with a 3.69 and had constant lower back problems, which made the Phillies avoid picking him after the season. Wilson had 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA. The 31-year-old played a vital role to take the Texas Rangers
into the World Series.
The question ‘whether the club hires any of the players or not’ surrounded by the concerns that the Yankees have about the players. Wilson might not be considered merely because of high price tag, which experts believe will lie around $100 million for five
years. Roy Oswalt’s constant lower back problems are also being discussed in the Yankees’ front office.
Cashman however refused to give any hint about it. He said, "In fairness, it's not in my interest to say what I would be more interested or not interested in, but I did talk to him about those two players."
Although Cashman did not disclose it in the thirty-minute session with the media, but a major newspaper in New York confirmed that Cashman also met with Joe Urbon, the agent of outfielder Grady Sizemore, who is a free agent after spending eight seasons with
the Cleveland Indians.
