New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman seems optimistic to add right-handed batter – MLB Update
The New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is looking quite optimistic to add a right-handed batter in the starting lineup in this Major League Baseball offseason.
The Yankees have recently lost a good right hander aggressive hitter Raul Ibanez who now will play for the Seattle Mariners. Earlier he was looking to remain in the New York Yankees roster with a potential re-signing but somehow it revealed in the media that he will not be given another chance as he signed with another leading Major League team.
With Raul Ibanez signing with the Seattle Mariners, the New York Yankees were deprived off with a good right handed hitter while their GM Cashman now searches to add a good potential experienced Major League professional.
“I can’t have that complicate my ability to get what I want, We’ll need something for the DH spot as well, but the most important aspect right now is finding a right-handed bat in the outfield,” general manager Brian Cashman said Sunday and explained in the media.
Cashman said of Ibanez “We never made an offer, I have to see how much money I have left. I don’t have an unlimited budget.”
Some say that the Yankees do not need to sign more players as they have already completed their 2013 Major League Baseball season roster. However, the Yankees GM is persistent and saying in public that in order to achieve more excellence in the coming days, they have to add some more fire power in the roster.
Currently playing with three some of the best hitting prowess Curtis Granderson, Brett Gardner and Ichiro Suzuki, the Yankees have already a strong unit. Centre fielder Granderson possesses large professional baseball experience.
Last year he went consistent at hitting average of .232 along with 43 home runs, 106 RBIs and .319 OBP. His career hitting average is also consistent at .262 along with 210 home runs, 591 RBIs and .341 OBP.
Left fielder Brett Gardner is also a consistent campaigner and knows his game well. Last year, he played at hitting average of .323 along with three RBIs and .417 OBP.
