New York Yankees’ Joba Chamberlain feeling better – MLB News
New York Yankees’ pitcher Joba Chamberlain is recovering very quickly from his elbow injury these days. According to a top news website, the starter had thrown off a full mound for the first time since suffering from a serious elbow injury eight months ago.
The 26 year old went through a successful elbow ligament surgery earlier this year.
According to sources, Chamberlain pitched 16 throws on Tuesday as the training session went really well for him. In some ways, his elbow operation has proved to be extremely beneficial for him as he had the chance to meet his family and friends during the
much needed break. Life in Major League Baseball is hectic but the elbow operation provided the starter with an opportunity he wouldn’t have had else wise.
“There’s no guarantees,” Girardi said. “You still have to do your work, and do a quality job.”
“It’s just the last step in getting back,” Chamberlain said in an interview. “Just to know that you’re on the mound. You’ve gotten over every hurdle to this point, and I’m thankful for that.”
“Will see how my arm reacts (Wednesday), that’s kind of a big thing,” he further added. “It feels fine when I throw no matter what. Just the angle difference. Just different pressure on you going up to a full mound. If it’s like anything else, it’s going
to feel fine like it has.”
Chamberlain also attended his son’s first day at school during his injury break. He will now be looking to deliver the goods consistently to secure a permanent place in the Yankees’ pitching attack. The guy displayed some high quality throwing skills in
2010 season. Between July and September, he pitched with an incredible 2.38 ERA in 28 appearances. Although his 2011 seasons ended with a disappointment of torn ligament, it will be interesting to see if he can stay healthy to post decent stats this season.
The upcoming Spring Training will be of great importance to both the Yankees and Chamberlain. If the thrower can give live to his immense potential, the Yankees will have more depth and quality in their pitching lineup.
