New York Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia optimistic about his team’s chances – MLB News
According to a top sports website, ace C.C. Sabathia believes the New York Yankees are capable of winning the next year’s World Series title. He disputed the winter story line about how other American League teams are getting stronger and the Yankees only
getting older.
Yankees were one of the most successful teams in the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. They made it to the playoffs relatively easily. With a deserving 3-2 win against the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Division Series, the Yankees looked
on course to their second World Series triumph in four years.
However, that did not turn out to be the case. The Detroit Tigers annihilated them in the nest of seven match American League Championship Series to claim the ALCS title. While the big bad American League East Division getting tougher as Toronto Blue Jays
and Tampa Bay Rays making big moves, Sabathia said the Yankees have a good enough reason to believe they can make it happen.
"I know he’s excited to be able to come here and we’re looking forward to it," Sabathia said of Youkilis,
"It’s not over yet," Sabathia said of the free agent derby. "You always have to look out for the Yankees having more up their sleeve. But if not, we have the guys."
"That experience, I think, helped us get to the playoffs last year when it came down to crunch time all of September," Sabathia said of the tight battle with Baltimore.
Sabathia spoke about the defending AL East champions on Thursday at the MLB Fan Cave, where he and his wife hosted a holiday part for the children. Over the last few days, Sabathia said he has been talking to Kevin Youkilis about to what to expect in pinstripes
and good places to live in New York.
Yankees’ pitching lineup is looking solid ahead of 2013 Spring Training. In Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda, Phil Hughes, Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivers, they have an attack capable beating any team in the American League. It will be interesting to see if the
Yankees can live up to their fans’ expectations.
