New York Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia to be checked by Dr. James Andrews – MLB Update

According to a leading sports website, Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia is expected to have his pitching elbow examined by Dr James Andrews. Sabathia suffered a painful injury in August which landed him on the disabled list.
After an MRI was performed on his elbow, it was revealed that he had a bone fracture in his left elbow. Yankees believe that the injury had existed when Sabathia pitched for the Cleveland Indians between 2001 and 2008. However, outside Yankee Stadium in
New York, Sabathia insisted that he never had any elbow problems before.
''Yeah, you have to be concerned, because like I've said, I've never had any problems with the elbow before,'' Sabathia said outside Yankee Stadium on Saturday, according to the New York Daily News. ''We have to wait and see ... It's something that I've
not felt before, never had, so it's best to go get it checked out and go from there.''
Sabathia is one of the most talented and naturally gifted pitchers in the American League East Division. Riding his back, Yankees made claimed the AL East title for the second straight year this season. The club will be looking to do everything to help Sabathia
improve his fitness level.
Yankees’ Captain Derek Jeter also had surgery performed on his broken left ankle on Saturday. Dr. Robert Anderson operated on the shortstop in Charlotte, North Carolina. A Yankees’ spokesperson stated that the 38-year-old Jeter will require four to six months
to completely recover. He is likely to take part in training session a month before the start of the 2013 regular season.
Jeter suffered a severe painful injury while trying to field a grounder in Yankees 4-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of American League Championship Series. The Yankees could not find winning ways without their Captain. Following Jeter’s injury, they
also went out of the post-season.
Tigers went on to claim four straight wins against the mighty Yankees to hand them their fourth post-season series sweep in club’s history.
Manager Girardi and General Manager Brian Cashman will be expecting their star shortstop to regroup and fight back from his injury.
