New York Yankees’ ace slugger Alex Rodriguez shows optimism ahead of 2012 – MLB News
The New York Yankees’ star slugger and one of the highest paid players in Major League Baseball, Alex Rodriguez is showing some solid confidence before the 2012 season after undergoing a knee procedure in Europe.
Recovering from his experimental knee and shoulder therapy in Germany, Rodriguez plans to start a new beginning in the next regular season.
Yankees’ hitting coach Kevin Long has also recently stated in the media that Rodriguez will make a good comeback next year.
Long said, “I think the most disappointing thing was, coming into Spring Training, how good he felt and how everything was there, once we got going into the season, it just seemed to kind of fall apart on him.”
Kevin also commented on the confidence he has for Rodriguez’s game and said, “It's only going to make him stronger. It's only going to make him better. He's got to feel like he's 25. I know last year he felt like he was just physically not able to
go every day, when your body doesn't feel right.”
Last week some reports published in the media describing Rodriguez’s Orthokine treatment for his right knee as to prevent from further complications in the future. According to doctors the treatment has been completed and in a few days Rodriguez will
be able to play again.
Rodriguez played the whole 2011 season with knee problems and that is the reason why he unable to perform well. A player whose career hitting average has remained consistent at .302 along with 629 home-runs, 1893 RBIs and .386 OBP played the last season
with a low hitting average of .276 with only 16 homers, 62 RBIs and .362 OBP.
It shows the clear difference between his overall career performance and the damage his knee has done to his last season’s performance.
However, he and the entire Yankees’ management know that the next season will provide some great opportunities to Rodriguez to overcome his poor stats from last season. The training sessions are just around the corner and Rodriguez’s knee is getting better
every-day while experts are very optimistic for the star slugger’s comeback.
