New York Yankees and Texas Rangers continue their verbal fight – MLB News
It seems that the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers are continuing to take turns with their negative statements of each other. Both teams are fiercely competitive and have traded verbal barbs in the past as well.
Although it is usually the players that are the ones doing all the trash talking, this time most of the comments are surprisingly coming from the presidents and CEO’s of both teams. Some of these negative comments seem to involve the pitcher Cliff Lee. Yankees
president Randy Levine was not happy with the comments made by the Rangers’ CEO Greenberg regarding Cliff Lee and his desire to go to the Philadelphia Phillies and not the Yankees.
Randy continued giving his report to the media and said, “I will be very happy when I will hear that news that Rangers are out of the welfare. I will be impressed when Rangers will not be the part of revenue sharing recipient.”
The Yankees were also very unhappy with Greenberg’s comments regarding the fans as being “either silent or spiritless”. New York wants an apology from Greenberg for his recent comments about their fans.
As the language of both teams is seemingly getting stronger and more negative, most fans and observers understand this is a part of the game, as both teams are very competitive and they will use any technique to get under the skin of one another for some
psychological edge. These types of verbal exchanges are nothing to new to baseball, as trash talking amongst the management is a common place to dislodge the players and get some advantage over the team by weakening their confidence.
The Yankees and Rangers are very competitive teams that have been around a long time in Major League Baseball. Their verbal confrontations are just adding more spice to the season and will most likely create some increase animosity in their respective camps.
The Yankees are known for their verbal outbursts and it has become a commonplace in MLB for teams to take jabs at each other.
