New York Yankees’ batters crush Chicago White Sox in a 12-3 triumph for a series tie: MLB Update
The New York Yankees' bat awakened in the fourth meeting with their league's rival, the Chicago White Sox, to clinch a 12-3 victory at the Yankee Stadium on Thursday night to tie the four-game series.
It was not sure whether the Yankees would make such a huge victory, but in the third inning it became evident when the Chicago’s starter, Edwin Jackson, allowed a walk to Nick Swisher. It was the desire of Swisher that came true, according to Swisher.
"I definitely had been worrying about that first home run. I had been trying a lot that last week," Swisher said. "I just wanted to get that monkey off my back."
The run gave the Yankees devastating momentum and the batters started making powerful swings. In the same third inning, Robinson Cano scored another run for the Club hitting a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Yankees had always utilised such start in a brilliant way and they did this again. However, in fourth inning Edwin by all means held the Yankees hitless, but New York were not ready to succumb in front of Edwin. In the fifth inning, the Yankees’ slugger,
Brian Gardner, hit the game’s only homer to right field.
Chris Granderson took that impetus forward inducing a triple and Nick Swisher added another RBI, forcing the Sox’ skipper to relieve Edwin with T. Pena. The move, however, did not work as Alex Rodriguez hit a beautiful grounder to left field for a RBI single.
Subsequently, Russell Martini added an RBI single for sixth run of the game and then Pena allowed a walk, scoring to Jorge Posada.
The Sox changed Pena with Will Ohman, but in sixth, the Yankees’ hitter Eric Chavez touched a grounder to second for RBI single and widened the lead to 9-0. Then it came the time for the Sox’ to score first run when Carsten Charles Sabathia gave loose pitch
to Alexei Ramirez for RBI single. In the next pitch, Carlos Quentin hit to deep right for a double and trimmed the lead to 9-3.
The Yankees’ added three more runs and hammered the Sox under heavy pressure in the bottom of the seventh inning. The 12-3 lead remained there until the game ended in the Yankees’ side.
The Yankees’ starter Sabathia pitched an excellent seven innings, allowed just three run on seven hits, gave one walk and made six strikeouts for his second win of the season. However, Sabathia gave the credit to the batters. Sabathia said, "It's unbelievable
for those guys to be patient and have good at-bats. I'll wait all night."
The Sox’ starter, Edwin, could only toss in four innings, allowed six runs on four hits including a homer, walked five and made just strikeouts.
