New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 to win the series – MLB Update

New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 at Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Thursday, May 10 in the decisive finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Tampa Bay has lost 9 out of their 16 away games this season and they will have to work out a method to win games away from the comfort of their home. CC Sabathia finally managed to outpitch his counterpart David Price. Sabathia looked extremely comfortable
on the mound as he struck out 10 to send the Rays to their fourth defeat in just five games.
Yankees’ starting pitcher gave some impressive performances last season and he will be looking to get himself back into form. Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson also displayed some high quality hitting skills to help the Yankees beat the Rays.
"CC seems to be the big guy right now," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.
"I was fired up I was going to make pitches to B.J. Upton," Sabathia said.
"I made some good pitches tonight, they hit them, that's it," Price said. "It's a good hitting team. You make mistakes and they hit them."
"I didn't know that stat that I hadn't beat him," Sabathia said.
Joe Girardi and company will be very pleased with the way they handled their nervous throughout the series to upset the leading American League team. The Rays were 19-10 going into the series with the Yankees and they were the favourites to emerge victorious.
Joe Maddon and his men swept the Yankees 3-0 in their first series of the season and after they outclassed their rivals in the second game, it seemed they will secure another easy series win. But the Yankees came up with a brilliant plan to floor the Rays
and they performed brilliantly in pressure situations to close out an important victory.
New York also improved their record to 17-14 with their win against the Rays on Thursday evening and it will be interesting to see if they can continue their good form in their upcoming games to cheer up the fans.
