New York Yankees beaten by Baltimore Orioles 0-5 – MLB Update

New York Yankees were beaten by Baltimore Orioles 0-5 at Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Wednesday, May 2 in the decisive finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
For the Orioles, Matt Wieters was the star of the show as he drove in crucial runs to dent Yankees’ confidence levels.
Blasting a towering home-run in the fourth, Wieters broke the deadlock to give Baltimore a 1-0 lead. Robert Andino and Chris Davis also joined the party in the sixth inning as they combined to extend the Orioles’ lead 2-0.
Nick Markakis’s solo home-run and Wieters’ double to deep in the seventh shattered Yankees’ hopes completely. New York’s starter Ivan Nova lost for the first time in his 16 MLB appearances.
"It's not near as meaningful as everybody makes it out, they're just one of the teams in our division," Showalter said.
"I had a pretty good idea they were going to the pen. I take some glances at my pitch count," said Arrieta.
"When he dove, when he came off the field, he said felt a little dizzy but he said he felt all right. ... Then when he was going through his at-bat he got dizzy," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "It's 2-0 after six and we had a chance to win that game,
and then it got away from him in the seventh."
It was the Orioles’ 12th win against the Yankees in 30 games. The hitters played a key role in helping Baltimore secure a rare series win in New York.
After losing the opening game 1-4, the Orioles showed great fighting spirit and determination in the second to level the series. With momentum on their side, Showalter and company dominated their rivals on Wednesday evening to improve their win-loss record
to 16-9.
Yankees, on the other hand, will be hoping to learn their lessons to bounce back strongly in their next series against Kansas City Royals. It will be interesting to see if Joe Girardi and his men can up their game play against the Royals to gain some sort
of winning momentum.
