New York Yankees beaten by Texas Rangers 0-2 – MLB Update
New York Yankees were brushed aside by Texas Rangers 0-2 at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, April 24 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball. With their win over the Yankees on Tuesday night, the Rangers levelled
the series at 1-1.
Rangers made the most of available opportunities to edge past the Yankees. Scoring runs at crucial situations, they conducted themselves brilliantly on the field. Texas now has an impressive 14-4 record and it will be safe to say that they are the favourites
for this year’s World Series title.
Yu Darvish played a key role in deciding the outcome of the game as he pitched into the ninth inning to help Texas secure an important victory.
"He just keeps getting better every time he takes the ball. Tonight, he used everything he had, and he was effective, very effective. He's getting more and more comfortable," manager Ron Washington said. "He was pounding the strike zone. That's what you
have to do against that team. He threw everything but the kitchen sink at them."
New York’s starter Hiroki Kuroda took his third loss of the season as Ian Kinsler put the Rangers ahead in the first inning.
"You hear a lot of guys get hyped and he was everything that you'd heard," Yankees’ Mark Teixeira said. "We had a gameplan to make him throw strikes, and he definitely did that. If you tried to be patient you're down 0-1, 0-2."
The Yankees will be extremely disappointed by the fact they were unable to take advantage of some easy scoring opportunities. Without a shadow of a doubt, the pitching lineup did what they were supposed to do but New York’s batters unit failed to live to
their immense potential.
Considering the way the Yankees started the three match series against the Rangers, they will be very disheartened by their performance on Tuesday’s eve. Joe Girardi and his men are one of the strongest teams in the American League and they will be hoping
to bounce back strongly in the finale to improve their unsatisfying 10-7 win-loss record.
