New York Yankees’ bench coach Tony Pena has a passion for Boston Red Sox – MLB Update
According to some reliable sources in the Major League Baseball, New York Yankees' current bench coach Tony Pena has expressed his great interest for Boston Red Sox managerial job.
Pena recently was interviewed by the Boston Red Sox’s top management for their vacant managerial post.
“It was a very, very quick six hours, Because when you’re talking about something you love to do, the thing that you have passion for, then you can talk the whole day. You can talk 24 hours. You can talk the whole year about baseball,” Pena said.
Baseball experts think that he will be a very good choice for the Red Sox. He possesses large Major League experience and has been in baseball business for many years now.
First as a player and later as professional coach/manager, Pena certainly understands his extraordinary skills.
He started his career as a baseball player in 1980 when he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and later went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros.
As soon as he retired from the game, Pena started his managerial career with the Kansas City Royals. He worked as manager in the Royals’ franchise for three years and got himself equipped with useful managerial expertise.
With lots of playing experience along with managerial skills, Pena joined the New York Yankees as bench coach in 2006. Since then he is delivering with great energy and won the World Series as their bench coach in 2009.
“He’s intense, he’s passionate, he loves the game, and he never has a bad day. That’s how I would describe Tony Pena, He’s done a lot. He was involved with a lot of playoff teams as player. He’s been involved with a lot of different aspects of the game. There’s a lot of experience there,” Yankees' general manager Brian Cashman said.
Though no decision has still been taken by the Red Sox’s for their next potential manager, but experts do believe that there are high chances that Tony Pena will end up managing the south Boston baseball team.
