New York Yankees’ closing pitcher Mariano Rivera not revealing his retirement plans
The New York Yankees’ star experienced closing pitcher Mariano Rivera who has earlier mentioned in the media that this Major League Baseball season will be last season of his professional baseball career is yet to disclose any retirement dates or any potential plans.
Yankees’ 12-time All Star closer, who is also considered one of the best closing pitchers of recent history, has once again come-out in the media and told reporters about the several controversies looming over his next season’s commitments with the Yankees.
“It doesn’t depend on anything, I always want to do my job,” said Rivera, who was expected to be a late arrival, but ended up getting to Florida on time for the first day of workouts for pitchers and catchers. “Even if I save 90 games, if they want to pay me as much money as they want to, anything [won’t matter].”
“This one is different,” Rivera added. “This is it its last my season. This is something everybody goes through. It’s just a matter of time. How many times did I tell you guys this is my last year.”
Rivera has taken this decision some three weeks ago as he will be retiring from the game after this year, but many reporters and analysts stated in the media as this is too early for him to leave the game in which he had already replied that he wanted to retire as a Yankee. While that is the main reason of his retirement leaving behind all the chances to play for another MLB team if traded next year or following season.
Rivera has been playing for the Yankees since 1995 winning every major achievement in this big business of Major League Baseball and now does want anything except calling it a day with pride.
Rivera, in his 16-year playing career, achieved five World Series titles along with five American League Rolaids Relief Man Awards, three-time Delivery Man of the Year Award, a World Series MVP Award, AL Championship Series MVP Award, all-time leader in regular season saves Award, all-time leader in postseason saves and all-time leader in games finished honours.
