New York Yankees crush Baltimore Orioles 6-4 to complete series sweep – MLB News
New York Yankees crushed Baltimore Orioles 6-4 at the Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on Wednesday, April 11 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
For the Yankees Nick Swisher hit a two runs home run in the tenth to help the Yankees secure their second straight extra inning win on Wednesday night. With their win the Yankees have now won 16 out of 21 games against the Orioles.
"It's nice to go home. Everyone is excited to go home," Girardi said. "It is nice to get the sweep."
"I thought our guys responded well under some tough circumstances with two extra-inning wins," manager Joe Girardi said.
"I was really excited to get that hit at the end of the game, so excited to come out of here with a sweep," Swisher said.
Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia gave up four runs in just over six innings on his comeback appearance.
The Yankees had a poor time in their three match series against Tampa Bay Rays. Joe Girardi and his men looked completely out of sorts in their first three games of the season, which damaged their record to 3-0. However, the way Yankees have lifted their
spirits in their last three games certainly shows they are not going to give up without putting up a fight.
Emerging victorious in all three games against the Orioles, the Yankees improved their win-loss record to 3-3. The Yankees secured a comfortable 6-2 win in the opening game of the series.
The Orioles put up a strong show in the second game but the Yankees proved to be too strong for them. New York continued their domination in third game as well to earn their first series sweep of the season.
The Orioles will be very disheartened by the fact they were unable to cross the winning line on two out three occasions. After thrashing Minnesota Twins 3-0 in their previous three match series, the Orioles were hoping to continue their superb run for a
bit longer but that did not turn out to be the case.
