New York Yankees floor Los Angeles Angels 11-5 – MLB Update
New York Yankees fought back brilliantly to floor Los Angeles Angels 11-5 at the Yankee Stadium in New York on Sunday, April 15 in grand finale of a three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Veteran Derek Jeter once again used his vast experience to great effect as he hit a three run home run to extend his first start. Ivan Nova also showed great throwing qualities, securing his 14th straight decision to help the New York win the
decider.
"I'm not worried about a winning streak. I just want to take the ball every five days," Nova said. "I don't pay attention to that stuff."
"He looks really good," teammate Robinson Cano said. "I'm happy for that guy because people always criticize, his age and stuff like that, so I'm happy to see him have a good start."
Raul Ibanez made a useful contribution with the bat, blasting a towering home run. Both Yankees and the Angels are one of the most high-priced teams in MLB and it will be interesting to see which one of them can give results on regular basis.
"I think everybody in here already knows what we can do," Nick Swisher said. "I think tonight was just an explosion for us at the plate. It was great." results on regular basis.
The biggest problem for the Yankees this season has been consistency. Joe Girardi and company had made an absolutely outstanding start to their three match series with the Angels, securing a comfortable 5-0 in the opening game. Yankees pitching line-up put
up brilliant numbers as they did not allow their rivals to score a single run.
Despite having the momentum on their side, they were unable to get the job done in second game and the Angels battled back to stay in the series. Yankees pitching attack, which is consisted of ace C.C. Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda, Ivan Nova and Phil Hughes,
failed miserably against the Angels’ batting line up as they gave up seven runs in total.
However, the Yankees did not disappoint the home crowd on Sunday evening as they dominated the Angles in almost all departments of the game to improve their home record to 2-1.
