for the Blue Jays’ batting lineup.
Surely the Yankees will be looking to continue their incredible winning streak in their upcoming games to replace Boston Red Sox at the top of American League East Division standings table. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda displayed top
quality pitching skills as he allowed just six hits and three runs in six solid innings, laying the foundations of an impressive’ Yankees victory.
"This might be his best performance of the year," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "It says a lot because he didn't have a whole lot."
Striking out batters at regular intervals, the Japanese born pitcher ensured the Yankees were in the driving seat. Relief pitchers Job Chamberlain, David Robertson and Mariano Rivera all made valuable contributions as the Yankees held
on to their slim lead to prevail in a thrilling series opener.
"All I thought about was, 'Just hang in there,'" Kuroda said through a translator in a post game interview.
"My sense was that the ball was resting on the ground and his glove was around the top of the ball," crew chief Jeff Kellogg said.
"I think he started to take a little more time and throw his pitches down," Cervelli said. "I started to call more breaking balls."
For the Blue Jays, starter Mark Buehrle allowed seven hits and five runs in just over five innings to take his first loss of the season. Blue Jays who made some expensive changes during the offseason but they have not been able to live
up to the expectations. It will be interesting to see if they can learn from their mistakes to turn things around in next game of the series.
