New York Yankees’ fans blame Nick Swisher for Derek Jeter’s injury – MLB Update
According to a leading sports website, New York Yankees’ Nick Swisher’s relationship with the fans is taking more hits than he has managed on the plate after Yankees bitter 4-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.
The source further revealed that the fans booed their one time favourite and several other team-mates throughout the Yankees’ two consecutive home losses at Yankee Stadium. Swisher is having another poor post-season with the Yankees and he will be under
a lot of pressure after recent criticism from Yankees’ fans.
Swisher, who is usually very calm and composed, lost his temper when some fans started to make it personal with verbal attacks in Yankees’ American League Championship Series Game 2 against the Tigers. The attacks were directly aimed at him. Some fans also
wrote inappropriate Tweets about him to his wife JoAnna Garcia.
“Maybe, man. I’ve been so fortunate to be here and play every day. When things kind of turn like that, it kind of hurts a little bit,” Swisher said. “This is the type of city and crowd that really rallies around their team. That’s the reason we’ve got 27
championships.”
“It hurts. Sometimes I’m a sensitive guy and some of the things people say, they get under your skin a little bit. I’ve been lucky to be here for the past four years, bro. We’re not going to go out like this. We’re going to go to Detroit and give everything
we’ve got,” he added.
Yankees’ outfielder is clearly very upset with the entire situation. He is one of those players who always give 100 percent on the field. Throughout the regular season, he earned RBI’s to help Yankees emerge victorious in several important encounters.
Sunday’s game against the Tigers could be Swisher’s last game at Yankee Stadium if the series does not return to New York. Swisher is convinced that it will be beneficial for the Yankees to get away from the Bronx as they will be able to concentrate on more
important things. Struggling to put runs on the board during the playoffs, Yankees have received hostile reception from the fans.
