New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira gets rest before next important clash with Mets
The New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira sat on the bench and did not play as fully involved player on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves due to take some rest against the all important clash with city rivals New York Mets.
"It probably wouldn't have been good for me to play all nine [innings] hobbling around like that, but to play one inning and get one at-bat, I can get through it for the end of the game, [The heel] was just really tight and sore, but luckily I didn't have
to really put it in second gear for the double, It was a standup double, which was easy for me." Teixeira said with confidence.
Teixeira added, “I would not have been able to play nine and hobble through nine, probably, but to be out there for a pinch-hit and one inning it was OK.”
The three-match series will start on Friday night while the Yankees veteran getting in shape to play his natural game.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi has also spoke in the media told some of the reporters that he is also happy on his player’s form. He explained because of the consistent games, Teixeira had to take little rest in order to keep his game on top level.
Teixeira, who is currently playing his one of the best seasons in the Major League Baseball, certainly needed that little break.
His hitting average is getting better and better with every game he plays. He has so far reached .256 hitting along with 12 homers and 40 RBIs.
Teixeira is a world class player while his career .280 hitting average also suggests that he will reach many goals. Already with two-time All Star selection has made him superstar. He has also won many games for the Yankees and now thinking positive towards
post season qualification.
Not only All Star selection, Mark Teixeira has also achieved four-time Gold Glove, three Silver Sluggers, American League Home Run Champion and World Series title.
All these awards and honours do put him in the limelight where every baseball player wishes to be someday.
