New York Yankees hammer Baltimore Orioles 13-3 – MLB Recap
The New York Yankees hammered the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 9 at Oriole Park at Baltimore.
Yankees smashed 13 runs and kept the Orioles under pressure and won in style.
"The bottom line is we're in first place, The one thing that you want to be able to do is just rely on your club. You don't want to have to rely on other people,” Yankees' manager Joe Girardi said.
Yankees' upfront batting line-up played wonderfully and earned a great victory for their team.
Designated hitter Derek Jeter scored two runs and smashed two hits along with three RBIs on his four at-bats. He played brilliantly and proved one of the winning factors for the Yankees on his consistent .449 slugging percentage.
"We lost a couple games, but we did battle back. Today was a big one for us. We have a much-needed day off (Monday), then we go to play Boston. I like the way we played," Jeter said on his and his team's performance.
Alex Rodriguez also showed his class as he added three runs on his three at-bats. He stood tall against the Orioles' batters with great energy and eventually won the game for the Yankees.
"Any way to try and help the team out, Physically I have felt fine. Who knows what it's been? Just a matter of continuing to swing the bat," Granderson said.
Second baseman Robinson Cano scored three runs and smashed two hits along with an RBI on his three at-bats. He smashed powerful hits and maintained his consistent slugging percentage at .540.
Along with batters, the Yankees experienced pitchers also performed tremendously and won the game for their team.
Freddy Garcia pitched 3.1 innings and received three runs and three hits. He struck-out one while his ERA remained consistent at 5.19.
Relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain was the most successful pitcher in the Yankees’ roster as he pitched 1.2 innings and did not allow any run or hit. He struck-out four while his ERA remained consistent at 7.50.
