New York Yankees humiliate Chicago White Sox 18-7 – MLB Update
New York Yankees comprehensively beat Chicago White Sox 18-7 with their brilliant hitting in the third outing at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, August 3 to take a 3-0 lead in four-game series.
The American League club crushed four runs in the top of the first inning to create early pressure over the opposition. They followed this with a two run second and seven run third inning to turn an outing into a nightmare for the White Sox. After delay
of three innings, the Yankees added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning and one run in the top of the eighth inning to cement their dominating victory.
Yankees’ batting line-up expresses perfect combination, as Mark Teixeira, Brett Gardner, Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano joined hands to score first four runs of the game in the first. Curtis Granderson added an RBI double in the second while Eric Chavez,
Derek Jeter, Teixeira and Cano combined to generate seven runs in the third inning. Granderson and Chavez combined again in seventh to add four more runs.
Gardner and Jeter each scored four runs, Granderson, Cano and Russell Martin added two each. Swisher, Chavez, Posada and Teixeira each added one run.
"Guys are having good at-bats, hitting balls hard, finding holes," Jeter said. "It's not too often during a course of a season where it seems like everyone is swinging the bat well at the same time, but it's been the case for us the last few days."
Allan James Burnett might have given the White Sox a chance to come back in the game if the Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi could not have changed him up the middle of the fifth inning. Burnett allowed seven runs on 13 hits, walked none and struck-out three
in just over four innings.
However, Cory Wade, Luis Ayala and Rafael Soriano assembled to provide the batting streak some strong support. Only Ayala gave away one hit over his two innings.
White Sox pitching depth however received severe bruises as starter Gavin Floyd went for ten runs over two innings, Will Ohman gave three runs on three innings and Brian Bruney gave away two runs over a single inning. Matt Thornton and Jesse Crain also gave
away combined three runs over two combined innings. Closer Sergio Santos was the only pitcher who did not receive any run over one inning.
It was the Yankees 67th win of the season and now they are among the top three teams of the Majors.
