New York Yankees humiliate Texas Rangers 12-4 – MLB Update
The New York Yankees launched five homers in the second straight day to take 12-4 win over the Texas Rangers in the second-straight night, at Yankee Stadium, New York on June 15.
The Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers at the same venue and the club was in full momentum to crush the league rivals for the second-straight time in two nights. At this time, the Rangers started positively with an early two-run lead right in the top of
the first inning but the Yankees immediately removed this lead with their powerful swinging.
Mark Teixeira led the Yankees off with a splendid 400-feet long two-run homer off Rangers’ starter Derek Holland in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at 2-all. With this hit, Teixeira entered his name into the list of the players, who has tossed
more than 20 homers in this season. Besides him, there is only one batter, Curtis Granderson, who has achieved this landmark.
Granderson did not succeed in touching a homer in this innings. However, he still contributed his part in the shape of a game leading RBI single in the bottom of the second inning. The Yankees’ starter Ivan Nova failed to defend the 3-2 lead and allowed
a one-run homer to Ian Kinsler and an RBI single to Adrian Beltre in the top of the third inning.
The Rangers could not enjoy the 4-3 lead for long as in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Yankees’ Eduardo Nunez hammered a 366-feet long one-run homer off Derek Holland to tie the game at 4-all. The Rangers failed to touch any run in the top of the fifth
inning and the Yankees took full advantage of it.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Andrew Jones and Francisco Cervelli each scored an RBI single to take the lead back to their side 6-4. Nova again remained scoreless in the top of the sixth inning and then Ramiro Pena launched a 401-feet long one-run homer
to take the lead to 7-4. Following this, Teixeira hammered another homer, this time 416-feet long two-run off the Rangers’ reliever Mark Lowe to take it to a strong 9-4 position.
The Rangers again failed to score any run in the top of the eighth inning but the Yankees bat did not stop. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Robinson Cano blistered a 379-feet long three-run homer off the Rangers’ closer Neftali Feliz to take the lead
into irrefutable 12-4 position.
The Yankees’ closer Jeff Marquez followed the same path set by the earlier pitchers and tossed a perfect ninth inning to take his club into their 38th win of the season. Nova allowed four runs on seven hits, walked three and took out two batters to earn
his sixth win in 2011. His reliever, Luis Ayala and Cory Wade each carried his momentum and tossed scoreless innings to provide the Yankees win another series sweep.
