New York Yankees look to add talented outfielder – MLB Update
The New York Yankees had a roller coaster season in which they played some hard baseball throughout the season. However, they could not finish the 2012 Major League Baseball season on a good note and lost back to back games in the last stages of the postseason.
As the season was ended with San Francisco Giants’ tremendous win, the Yankees management sat down and evaluated their loop holes.
During evaluation, they found out many deficiencies in the outfield. Though it is crowded with several big names, but now they do not just want to add players but some talented players as well.
Some say their outfield needs fresh blood, other say that Yankees should bring some two to three experienced outfielders who could play on different positions.
Lately the Yankees management has decided to sign some available free agents. Raul Ibanez is also among free agents and already played for the Yankees in the last season.
Experts say that Ibanez is a potential match winner and Yankees should consider him for another year. Even Yankees general manager Brain Cashman has said recently about signing some of the free agents.
“I’m open to whatever, whether talking to [free agents] or other clubs, Whether it’s now or June, at some point we’ll have it,” Cashman said when asked if one position took priority over the other explaining chances of getting new players’ arrival.
“We are talking to Raul Ibanez and his agent. Raul was one of our [players last year], I don’t want to talk about outside guys,” said Cashman, who has been careful to not violate the clause in the Basic Agreement that prohibits clubs and agents from discussing terms, dollars and negotiations when talking about free agents.
Raul Ibanez is a highly talented individual and if he does re-sign with the Yankees, it will be a huge step forward for Yankees as well as for Ibanez.
Ibanez last played for the Yankees in the recent past 2012 Major League Baseball season and finished with great numbers. He achieved consistent batting average of .240 along with 19 homers, 62 RBIs and .308 OBP.
