New York Yankees lose to Baltimore Orioles 5-11 - MLB Recap
The New York Yankees lost to Baltimore Orioles 5-11 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 31 at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
Yankees played poorly from start and lost in the end with a six-run margin. Their upfront offence failed as they suffered their second straight defeat from the Orioles.
Not only Yankees’ batting line-up did not perform but their pitching prowess was also seen out of colour. Yankees batters scored only five runs while their pitchers pitched some way-ward deliveries which eventually proved disastrous for them as they lost bitterly in the end.
Though the Yankees took a five-run run lead early in the very first inning, but they could not maintain their momentum and later did not show any fighting spirit against the Orioles’ destructive offence.
Meanwhile, the Orioles, who are feeling quite comfortable in the second half of Major League regular season, certainly played with increased energy and rattled the Yankees with some heavy blows.
"It's not easy to go out there and give up a lot of runs to this offense in this ballpark and then stay in there and shut the door after that, It felt like the first inning would never end, And then we were able to come out there and take back the momentum and really quiet the crowd," Chris Davis said.
They never let the Yankees’ top players accelerate and kept them under pressure throughout the match.
"That's something he has been really good at this year: not letting things unravel, And tonight it did, for whatever reason," Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi said.
Their pitchers played brilliantly and their hitters played sensibly against the Yankees in every area of play.
They all looked sharp on the field and showed their natural aggressive play which confirmed their victory in the end.
Chris Tillman pitched well for the Orioles and allowed five runs and eight hits along with four earned runs on his 2.70 ERA.
"I didn't feel all that good, There's no excuse to not make pitches early on," Tillman said.
On the other hand, the Yankees’ starter Ivan Nova literally lost the game for his team as he allowed nine runs, ten hits and nine earned runs on his increasing 4.53 ERA.
