New York Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi happy with his team – MLB News
The New York Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi state that he was happy where he was, dispelling any impression, that he is being looked at as Mike Quade’s replacement in the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs hired Dale Sveum this month as quite interestingly, it was Girardi’s
name which was also swirling as the Cubs’ new manager.
"I don't ever worry about that," he said. "I'm obviously happy where I'm at and New York has been outstanding for me and my family whether it was (as) a player, coach or manager.”
The New York Yankees made it to the playoff series this year where they were beaten 3-2 by the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees had made a fairly confident start with a 9-3 win in the first game, but the Tigers sprang back with a 5-3 win in the second, 5-4 in
the third only to lose the fourth game by 10-1, but winning the fifth and decisive game 3-2.
The end result might have been shocking for the New York Yankees largely because they were fairly stronger than the Detroit Tigers, but there was no change of guard afterwards which is what usually witnessed after such defeats.
Joe Girardi maintained his poise as did his team which reposed their confidence in him. There were no talks of making any big move in this regard. Nonetheless, the rumours that swirled which suggested that Girardi may replace Mike Quade after the latter
was dismissed. Nonetheless, Girardi still has the managerial charge in the New York Yankees.
Girardi also knows that taking charge of the Chicago Cubs at this time would be demanding given the expectations there. He said, “We know there are high expectations there just like anywhere else and we've started thinking about our club already and I'm
looking forward to it."
Joe also expressed his delight for being around the family, saying he ‘loves it’. With a lot happening these days, it will be interesting to see how things unfold for Girardi and his team. But for now, like Girardi said himself, he was happy with the Yankees
and is looking forward to a positive and productive season ahead.
