New York Yankees’ may lose C. C. Sabathia
The New York Yankees have a long line of responsibilities tied to Carsten Charles Sabathia. The big pitcher has the leading role in this season’s rotation with the Yankees but that may come at a price in the long run.
The ace man can opt out of his contract with the New York Yankees after this season, even though he has the option to earn $23 million per year. The reason behind that move could be pointed to his performance in the previous three years.
Sabathia has been an influential figure in the rotation and his statistical prowess suggests he will want a contract revision with the club. The player will want the club to provide a better deal that would earn him more than $23 million over the allotted
years along with another extra one.
The player is set to provide the Yankees with a similar season to 2010’s. His previous five seasons have bolstered his reputation as a prime starter for the club.
His earning runs average in these campaigns have hit lower than 3.50. In addition to that, Sabathia has availed strikeouts around the figure of 200 and a good healthy number of experiences for the club.
He’s up for clinching a raise that has gone Alex Rodriguez’s way. His existing contract is set to run out in 2015 and another extra year could enhance his value in the process. 2016 would look like a possibility and that could get Sabathia to a super slot
in the squad.
The New York Yankees have a depleting experience players’ base in the roster and Sabathia has the right to demand more, given his imperative role with the club.
With Dustin Moseley, Javier Vasquez and Andy Pettitte absent from the current team, the leadership role has gone to Sabathia and Allan James Burnett.
The current setup in the club is dangerously weaker than the one from last year. With Sergio Mitre and Ivan Nova coming in to fill big holes in the rotation, things look risky for the Yankees, this year.
