New York Yankees not the only ones looking at Yu Darvish – MLB News
Although the Yankees’ General Manager Brian Cashman scouted on the Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish on Thursday for the sake of visualising his 2012 pitching rotation, there are strong speculations starting to revolve around in baseball circles that the Rangers
may take the pitcher more seriously than the New York Yankees.
As the Rangers has also shown their interest in acquiring the Boston Red Sox C. J. Wilson for the next season, baseball experts believe that the club will however gave more value to young and less expensive Japanese.
"They could be looking at him as a less costly option than bringing C.J. Wilson back," the source said. "It will be interesting to see what the Rangers offer Wilson."
However, the Yankees and the Rangers are not alone in queue to acquire the 25-year-old as the sources has revealed two more teams with an ambition to hold on to the right-hander. Toronto Blue Jays and the Washington Nationals have been reported with an interest
over the pitcher.
The news of the opt-out option of the contract that the Yankees’ gritty hurler Carsten Charles Sabathia may use sometime in the next week has already been aired from various sources. Cashman however has expressed his ambition to take the left-hand pitcher
back for the 2012 season and this has made the Yankees hand over the Yu Darvish issue.
Brian Cashman spoke to the media in a way that not only provided his point of view but it also appreciated the services of the Sabathia for the Yankees in last three years.
"No doubt, it'll be the No. 1 thing to deal with and talk about," Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman said. "That's obviously going to be the most important thing. He has been great, I'm a huge fan."
Darvish on the other hand had asked his team, the Nippon Ham Fighter, to post him and the source that has knowledge of the posting believes the young lad may have $25 to $30-million-dollars. The club who wins the posting contest will have 30 days to acquire
the player. However, the cost of the three years that the club will have to pay the Japanese player has increased to $66-million.
