New York Yankees offers new contract, Brian Cashman still to sign – MLB News
Sources has revealed that the New York Yankees current General Manager Brian Cashman has received his new contract in his hands, but the long term GM has still not signed the contract.
Brian Cashman, who joined the Yankees in 1998, has been in communication with the Yankees during the last week. However, now the baseball sources, who were also the part of the negotiations, have now revealed that the Yankees have given a new contract to
Cashman on Saturday.
"All the terms and conditions are done,'' said the source, who declined to provide details of the contract.”My understanding is (Cashman) was going over it with his lawyer (Saturday night).''
The new contract, according to the reports, is for three years. A major news source in New York has however revealed that the Yankees are unable to reach Brian Cashman for the last two days.
Cashman became the Yankees’ General Manager in 1998, leading them to a league high four Championships. In his ten years, he signed 102 players that are most in baseball. He also wears the crown of introducing Carsten Charles Sabathia. Cashman was also present
during the Yankees’ annual organisational meeting in Tampa, Florida held last week.
After that meeting, Cashman stated that he is not concerned about his deal and the team executives have more interest about Sabathia than any other matter. Cashman has been a great asset for the Yankees since joining and now the club will not want to leave
their winning manager.
Besides Cashman, the Yankees have reportedly offered a new contract to Carsten Charles Sabathia, but the left-hander has still not made any decision about his future. The pitcher has an option to use his opt-out clause of his contract to become a free agent.
However, the 31-year-old has still not utilised his clause, but the insider reporter of the Yankees has exposed that the Sabathia might like to test the free market before taking any decision.
Yankees believe it a fair offer as one of the executive in the club has commented. "We believe it is a very fair offer,'' the executive said. “But we haven't heard anything back yet."
Sabathia has been one of the most valuable pitchers for the Yankees in the last three years, in which he made 59 wins for the club. His free agency option might create unrecoverable space in the Yankees.
