The New York Yankees’ ace starting pitcher Joba Chamberlain has recently suffered a serious ankle injury which experts calling a season threatening damage to his game.
The Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has already stated in the media that he cannot predict anything time related for Joba. He added that he is hoping best for Joba, but cannot say anything on his potential return in the upcoming Major League Baseball season.
“I’m not in a position to say,” GM said, “I’d like to say no. My heart and my gut tells me no.”
Later, Jim Murray, who is Chamberlain’s agent said with slight optimism, “There was no life-threatening loss of blood.”
The Yankees manager Joe Girardi was most worried for his player. He also explained the situation in-front of large media.
He said, “I wanted to see how he was doing, You know it’s crushing. I just told him, ‘We’re going to be here for him. We’re going to get you through this, and we’re going to get you back on the mound. But you’re going to go through some difficult times...’ You can see the disappointment, there’s no doubt [about] that.”
The entire Yankees management certainly came under pressure as soon as Chamberlain’s news regarding ankle injury broke in the media. They were shocked as recently some hope came from Chamberlain’s side as he will be arriving in the team in All Star break almost at middle of the season. He was already recovering from ulnar collateral ligament replacement surgery and now this injury further pushed him.
