New York Yankees pursuing free agent Mark Buehrle – MLB News
The New York Yankees have started pursuing Mark Buehrle, who is potentially available as a free agent in the Major League this off-season. His previous contract with the Chicago White Sox has expired recently and now looking to play for another team in the
league.
The Yankees are the second team after the Florida Marlins who have publically announced their interest to bring Buehrle into the roster and are looking positive for left-hander’s potential arrival.
Though the Yankees’ General Manager Brian Cashman showed no indication for this new development regarding Buehrle’s arrival into the franchise, but some inside sources are pretty sure over his potential chance to play in New York next season. However,
Cashman did say, “I certainly haven't had one agent tell me what they want financially, so no one's made any demands to me. So I don't know what these current free agents are looking for yet in terms of years or dollars. Over the river and through the woods
to grandmother's house you go, and you have no idea whether you're going to get there or not other than letting the season play out, Turned out that other way was a great way for us.”
According to Cashman’s statement, he is right in saying that his top management is still to clear the very need of these free agents to him. To arrange finances in order to give a relatively good contract especially to Buehrle is not a problem for the New
York Yankees at the moment. They are considerably one of the richest baseball franchises in Major League Baseball and can easily afford Buehrle and his star studded calibre.
Mark Buehrle, who has played his entire career with the Chicago White Sox, is now making an exit to explore his chances with a different team. Recently, he has also met with the Florida Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen to see whether he can best fit in with
the club.
Both these new prospective teams, the Yankees and Marlins who are expecting to sign Buehrle, have yet to make any decision. However, the chances are high as within the next few days, that Mark will be wearing another team’s uniform for the 2012 regular season.
