New York Yankees re-sign power-hitter Andruw Jones – MLB News
The New York Yankees are preparing for the next Major League Baseball season, has re-signed their power-hitter out-fielder Andruw Jones for a potential one year contract worth $3.4 million to ensure some batting depth in their active 40-man playing roster.

"Andruw had offers of a higher base salary from some other clubs," said the source. "But he took less money to return to the Yankees. He had a good experience there last season and wanted to come back."
According to detail of the sources, Andruw will be earning $2 million in base salary and $1.4 million in incentives in the upcoming year.
Earlier, some sources had also speculated in the media that Andruw might not get a contract extension instead will be traded but at the very last minute, he is given a new contract by the Yankees’ management which he accepted without any hesitation.
Extension in Jones’ contract shows a very good picture of Yankees probable roster for 2012. Not only his presence will make the franchise stronger but the Yankees winning chances are also looking very positive.
Andruw Jones is considered one of the most talented power-hitters currently playing in MLB. His game has been tested before on many occasions and he needs no further regard for his performance and also for making sure his current status in the franchise.
Earlier, one National League talent evaluator, who has keenly watched Andruw Jones game last season, said for him with great admiration,
“It's not the 50-homer Andruw Jones anymore, and it's not necessarily the flat-out Gold Glove Andruw Jones anymore. He's a player that is showing his age a little bit because he can legitimately play center field, and has power you have to respect. He can
still help a team win with his glove and power.”
This is certainly a fact that Jones played tremendously in the last season. His hitting average remained consistent at .247 along with 13 home-runs, 33 RBIs and .356 OBP. While his career .256 hitting average with 420 homers, 1255 RBIs and .339 OBP also
makes him a true hitter in the big league and he will prove a dominant player in the Yankees’ roster next season.
