New York Yankees relief pitcher David Robertson has bone bruise – MLB Update
The New York Yankees’ relief pitcher David Robertson is hurt with bone bruise during a practice session in 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training in Arizona on Friday evening.
Earlier it was speculated in the media that his foot fracture will now need a serious surgery before he gets back fully healed in the upcoming outing of Major League teams, but hearing about the bone bruise, the team management felt little sigh of relief.
Team manager Joe Girardi said of Robertson’s bone bruise, “[A bone bruise is] as good as it gets for us. He will be in a boot through [tomorrow] so it can heal quicker and then go as he can tolerate it, it’s a huge relief. I got word that there was cause for concern, but obviously this is good news.”
Later some reporters also asked questions from Robertson as he answered with quite optimism.
Robertson  said, “I’m feeling better, I’m hoping that this is something that passes in a week or so and I will be right back out there, It’s pretty tough when it’s on your foot you can feel it so much. The first MRI had some questionable things.”
Though, Robertson’s injury is not so fatal, but the Yankees manager is taking it seriously and telling the media about Robertson’s injury with great concern. Girardi knows his team and its preparation ahead of next season and if one player gets injured, this is certainly a great drawback for their late preparations.
Currently the Yankees are practicing hard in Spring Training and know how important this coming season is for them. Last year, the Yankees could not achieve the desired goals and lost early in the post-season, but this year, the team is in good spirit going into a new season with a one goal of achieving consistent results.
In the meanwhile, Robertson’s bruise foot bone is being treated by the Yankees’ doctors who are confident on his smooth return. This is a possibility as Robertson will come-back on the field at middle of the season while the Yankees other officials say that his recovery is crucial to the team, who is already seeking some great results next season.
