New York Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera confident for successful return – MLB Update
The New York Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera is confident for a successful return in the next Major League Baseball season. Recently, he underwent a surgery to repair his knee which still needs some time to heal fully but Rivera is showing enormous
confidence and stating in the media that he will be fully recovered by the start of 2013 Major League Baseball season.
“It’s not 100 percent, I would say it’s 95 percent. By the time spring training finishes, it will be 100 percent,” Rivera said of the torn ACL he suffered May 3.
He said, “normal” spring training — with one slight alteration. He will start throwing “in another week or so, that I will start early.”
“I need to do more strengthening, The hope is the 5 percent comes quick,” said Rivera, who seemed to be in good health Saturday, when he gave a pitching clinic for 150 children, including many who attended Sandy Hook Elementary School, at Frozen Ropes Training
Center in Danbury, Conn.
Rivera added further, “I have another contract for this year, You never know what’s going to happen next year.”
Rivera was injured in the last Major League outing and could not play the whole season. However, he was still able to play some games in which he also showed consistent results. He finished the last Major League outing with 2.16 ERA along with five saves,
eight strikeouts and 0.96 WHIP.
Rivera is a good player and knows his game well. His large experience in the Major League has brought him so much praise that every young baseball player looks up-to him in game’s every manner.
He currently carries world class stats of 2.21 ERA along with 608 saves, 1119 strikeouts and 1.00 WHIP. His presence in the New York Yankees will make things more competitive in the next season.
Experts also rate high Rivera’s presence in the South New York Baseball franchise. These experts know that Rivera has large experience in the Major League and as soon as the Yankees will enter into a new season, his presence will make a clear difference
