New York Yankees’ relief pitcher Mariano Rivera feeling better after throat surgery – MLB News
The New York Yankees’ relief pitcher Mariano Rivera is feeling better day-by-day after undergoing throat surgery to fix his vocal cards four weeks ago.
Some sources have information on Rivera’s recovery but still have not confirmed that his recovery is time related or not. Even Rivera himself did not state any given time-line for his recovery as to when he will be back to playing baseball.
Earlier when some reporters asked Rivera on his throat surgery and how much time he still needs to recover fully. Rivera replied and said,
“I was worried about something else, even though the doctor says it doesn't look like it. But I had peace when the results came and everything was negative. Thank God, everything's good. I'm just trying to get ready for spring training. It makes you think,
definitely. It puts it in perspective. But again, thank God everything is fine and getting better and better and we’ll see.”
Rivera’s Dec 2nd surgery was a critical one, but as the time is passing, his recovery looks better with much improvement.
Experts believe, Rivera’s recovery is very important for the Yankees next season. A player who went last season with 1.91 ERA along with 44 saves, 60 strike-outs and 0.90 WHIP is certainly a great player at the closing position.
On the other hand his career 2.21 ERA with 603 saves, 1111 strike-outs and 1.00 WHIP also shows the tremendous talent that he possesses. His 16-year professional baseball career shows us how dedicated he is and how much he can still achieve in the near future.
Rivera has won 12-time All Star cap along with five World Series Championships, five-time American League Rolaids Relief Man Award, three-time Delivery Man of the Year and a World Series MVP award.
All these awards show the extraordinary skills that Rivera has learned and has always impressed every baseball expert.
The next Major League Baseball season is going to be very interesting as every MLB team will come with full preparation and with a single mindset of outdoing their opponents.
