New York Yankees show interest in Travis Hafner – MLB Update
The New York Yankees are showing great interest signing Travis Hafner for the next Major League Baseball season. Hafner currently a free agent last played for the Cleveland Indians.
He did well and showed good commitment after hitting with .228 averages along with 12 home runs, 34 RBIs and .346 OBP. He also carries good career hitting average of .278 along with 201 home runs, 694 RBIs and .381 OBP.
Looking at his consistent hitting averages and career good stats, the Yankees are expressing desire to sign Hafner. Yankees know that they need some good fire power in the batting department and Hafner certainly will calm down the situation.
Currently the Yankees are facing all sorts of difficulties. Not only they need some good pitchers and batters, but they are also tackling some big players’ injuries.
Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter are two main players who will not be available in first few weeks of the next season.
As far as Rodriguez is concerned, he is also facing again allegation of using Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED) regarding which, the Major League authorities are planning to take severe action.
"We remain fully committed to following all leads and seeking the appropriate outcomes for all those who use, purchase and are involved in the distribution of banned substances, which have no place in our game," MLB said.
“We are in the midst of an active investigation and are gathering and reviewing information. We will refrain from further comment until this process is complete."
“We fully support the (MLB) Commissioner's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. This matter is now in the hands of the Commissioner's Office. We will have no further comment until that investigation has concluded," the Yankees said in a statement.
Both Rodriguez and Jeter had a good last season with consistent batting averages. Jeter went to hit at .316 averages along with 15 home runs, 58 RBIs and .362 OBP.
Rodriguez also finished with good numbers of .272 hitting average along with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs and .353 OBP. He also carries a good career hitting average of .300 along with 647 home runs, 1950 RBIs and .384 OBP.
