The New York Yankees’ starting pitcher A.J. Burnett is on potential trading lines as some sources are speculating in the media as he will be traded soon. Though he played relatively well last season but the Yankees want this trade to be happen soon.
“It will happen this weekend,” a person familiar with the deal predicted. “Probably Saturday.” Later, the Yankees pitching head Coach Larry Rothschild said in the media regarding this matter of Burnett’s trade.
He said, “No, not at all, who knows what will happen. I go with the players who are here. I like being around A.J. He is a good guy to be around so I have no problems. A.J. is an easy person to talk to. I don’t want to be in that loop right now. He is coming here as one of our starting pitchers. Make that. He was.”
The Pittsburgh Pirates are among the foremost candidates who are considering signing Burnett in their 40-man roster. Los Angles Angeles, New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds are the other teams who are also pursuing hard for signing Burnett.
Having spent 12 years in the Major League Baseball, Burnett has also played for the Florida Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays. His career 4.10 ERA makes him one of the great active starting pitchers in the league.
Experts believe that he might achieve more glorious career stats in the next franchise wherever he gets the chance to play if traded before the 2012 season. Though no sources from any side has confirmed yet regarding any potential trade but some inside MLB sources have confirmed that the Yankees will trade Burnett before next Saturday.
On other hand, Pirates are looking desperate to sign him. The entire Pirates management is busy trying to convince the Yankees for Burnett’s trade. From experts point of view, if this trade goes ahead, both franchises will be benefiting at the same time as well. The Yankees will earn some handsome amount of money and the Pirates will enjoy the presence of a world class experienced pitcher who has rattled many with his deadly throwing.
