New York Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte’s rehab programme going smooth – MLB Update
The New York Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte is quite optimistic about his immediate return on the field as his rehabilitation process is going smoothly.
He is out from the Yankees lineup since 27th June but recovering fast to make a comeback into the roster.
However, when last week he suffered a setback in his rehabilitation process, the media attention turned once again of Pettitte’s absence in the Yankees’ lineup.
Now further reporters are coming one more time that Pettitte’s setback was a minor issue as he at the moment feeling much comfortable on the way things are unfolding for him.
He recently has also spoken in the media saying, “I know now that if I have another setback, that we’ve got serious problems and my season is probably over, now we’re probably going to be overcautious and figure out what we can do just to make sure I’m back.
Pettitte added, “If I could get on a mound by September 1, right there, I mean it would be a pretty rushed job but I might be able to, In September you have call ups, and again — I don’t even want to speculate. I would think that would give me 2½ weeks to
get ready.”
Not only Pettitte but the Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi also is also hoping a smooth return for his veteran starter.
Pettitte with huge 16-year experience is a productive player and knows his game well. His presence in the team is a foremost importance for the Yankees as well.
They know the upcoming games will be more critical in order to play well and to achieve a more coveted spot in the playoffs.
At the moment the Yankees are going quite nice with enough backup to face any uncertainty in the competition but at the same time they want Pettitte back in the roster as soon as possible.
Pettitte too, with his extraordinary pitching skills and star studded calibre, has proved his valour in the Yankees roster. Before getting injured, he was playing well with 3.22 ERA along with 3-3 win loss, 59 strikeouts and 1.09 WHIP.
