New York Yankees still to impress many on their new look roster – MLB News
The New York Yankees have brought several new players in this offseason to some stability to their dire 40-man roster which could not perform up-to expectations last season.
But with all those roster moves and new arrivals, the Yankees’ top management is still little worried that the rest of the Major League teams especially baseball pundits are not impressed with these recent shifts.
Recently, the Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine came out in the media and criticised the Yankees’ management for their two new choices of Michael Pineda and Hiroki Kuroda.
Valentine was persistent saying that both these players are somehow not well-matched to the Yankees aggressive playing style.
Later, he explained in detail and said, “Pineda, when I saw him the first half [of last season], he looked unhittable. Second half, he looked OK. [The Mariners] saw a lot of him and they traded him. Kuroda is a good pitcher [but] a year older than he was last year. [And he will be] pitching in the American League and not the National League. [He’s going from] pitching in not a great pitchers’ ballpark from a great pitchers’ ballpark. They’re probably an upgrade from [Bartolo] Colon and [Freddy] Garcia, Probably. I don’t know. It seems it.”
The Yankees got Michael Pineda from the Seattle Mariners as one of their top prospects Jesus Montero and Hiroki Kuroda from Los Angeles Dodgers for the next couple of seasons.
Some recent reports have also speculated in the media as these two potential players are coming in the Yankees roster with somewhat inner dispute among some top executives.
However, though these two particular players are not receiving the kind of welcome they expected earlier but still many inside sources believe, as Kuroda and Pineda possess abilities to impact the Yankees division standings next season.
In the meanwhile, the Yankees are still thinking to upgrade their roster for the next season. They might have succeeded bringing-in some experience players, but until these two players start performing on the field, critics will keep commenting their every move towards upgrading their 40-man roster.
