New York Yankees unhappy with security at Comerica Park – MLB Update
According to a leading sports website, New York Yankees were extremely unhappy about the security measures at Tigers’ Comerica Park in the finale of their three match series with Detroit Tigers.
A wild fan disrupted the game in the ninth inning with the Yankees leading the score 5-1. Although New York went on to secure a comfortable win, Manager Joe Girardi was highly critical of the security.
According to the source, there were more than 40,000 fans present at the stadium hoping for Tigers’ victory but Joe Girardi and company dominated the Tigers right from the start of the play with Derek Jeter hitting a mighty home run against ace Justin Verlander on his very first pitch.
Of course, the fans got extremely frustrated after seeing their star hitters failing miserably against Yankees’ starting pitcher Phil Hughes.
“He runs over and he’s like, ‘Come on Swish, give me some dap’” Swisher said. “I was like well, h**l, he’s going to jail. Why not?”

“That’s too long. Luckily that guy was harmless,” Mark Teixeira said. “You can’t let a guy run out there for a few minutes and go up to players. Most stadiums are great and the security is on it in seconds. That took way too long. It was like they were corraling him. I guess that’s their way.”

“That can’t happen. You worry about your guy,” he said. “I don’t know what he was doing to Swish. . . . Maybe he got his (All-Star) vote.”
The game had to be stopped for more than a minute after Delmon Young had a two out single against Hughes. The fan broke the border from the stand and he sprinted towards the second base.
When he was chased by the security staff, he ran to Yankees’ outfielder Nick Swisher to whisper something to him.  The security carefully closed in on him and they finally grabbed him behind the second base.
In a post game interview, Girardi stated that he was extremely worried about his players while expressing his displeasure at the incident. Mark Teixeira said the security guards at Yankee Stadium would have dealt with this kind of situation more effectively.
