New York Yankees upbeat ahead of Game 4 clash of ALCS – MLB Update
New York Yankees are quite upbeat ahead of their Game 4 clash of American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, October 18 at Comerica Park, Detroit in Michigan.
At 3-0 down, the Yankees are going for a must win situation when they will be playing at the Tigers' home field.
Curtis Granderson said, "It's definitely not going to hurt by any means, We haven't played well to this point. Who knows? Change is always good thing."
Yankees' talented and eleven-year Major League veteran C. C. Sabathia will start while the Tigers will unleash Max Scherzer for this big game.
Sabathia with current 3.38 ERA along with 15-6 win-loss, 197 strike-outs and 1.14 WHIP is a potential player with the right kind of abilities, can be dangerous for the Tigers.
Scherzer also knows that how important this game is for the Tigers who have already outclassed the Yankees in previous three games and now can qualify for the World Series encounter with just another win.
Tigers' starter is currently performing with 3.74 ERA along with 16-7 win\-loss, 231 strike-outs and 1.27 WHIP and can be vital for his team.
"They kept saying it was going to come and it never came, So go figure," Tigers' pitcher Max Scherzer said.
Detroit catcher Alex Avila said, "A lot of people were pretty upset that Verlander didn't get to finish his start, So, I think people would be pretty upset if they didn't get to see Scherzer and Sabathia finish their starts as well. Major League Baseball is trying to protect not only the pitchers, but also play a clean game without having to stop and stuff like that."
According to some experts that after Yankees' lost Derek Jeter, there will be uphill struggle for New York side to match the Tigers’ current extraordinary offensive form.
Not only Jeter, who is scheduled to undergo a potential ankle surgery, the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez is also out of form and has not been playing well especially in the post-season which could give the Tigers a clear advantage in the decisive encounter on Thursday night.
