Question:

New York is friendly?!?

I was just in New York for two days. When I was in a Starbucks and I needed to go to the bathroom badly, I was told to get to the front of the line. When I needed to use a phone, a stranger let me use his cell phone (even though I didn't ask him). Was I just lucky, or is New York a really friendly place these days??

  1. NY is like a box of chocolates you never know what you might get.. We can be kind and we can be cruel. We are always in a rush ,hurrying to go nowhere.. I lived in NY for years  then moved to Long Island .I was tired of the craziness...bd

  2. There are a wide range of people in New York some good, some bad, since my family is from there I've been going my whole life, for the most part my experience has always been great.

  3. What made you think otherwise...?

NYC like any place in the world has nice people, bad people, evil people, murderers wandering the streets, druggies, heiresses and heirs.. socialites.. every kind of person you can think of...

Perhaps you were lucky that day, but also it could have been the way you looked.. u might not have been that scary looking and so the guy on the phone seen u as a damsel in distress, and let u use ur fone.

But dont be so trustworthy all the time, next time u go, someone might rub u or worse.. so continue to be caustious, especially when ur in NYC!

  4. Most of New Yorkers are friendly and they like to help you out.

Friendly folks like to let you use restroom if you need to go badly.

I also experience this not in NY, but in NJ, CT.

Nice folks let me use restroom first.

  5. New York City is one of a kind.

  6. I live in Miami and had heard horror stories about rude New Yorkers. Rubbish! Great city, great people.

  7. I'd say that's pretty typical around here, actually.  New Yorkers are surprisingly considerate, and many news reports and studies have confirmed this.

I've lived here my whole life, and have road-tripped 49 of our 50 states, DC, and most of Canada, and I honestly can't say I've found any place much more friendly than New York.

Thanks for sharing your story, it's good to hear things like this!

  8. It depends.

I have lived here my entire life. I have had days where i feel its the rudest place in the world, and days where i feel like its the exact opposite.

Like any big city, there are alot of jerks and alot of great people. Its all just depends on who you bump into.

  9. absolutely it is friendly--i find the same things happening to me as well--- i've had a guy look up directions on his internet phone for me---all that BS about nyc being full of pushy unfriendly people was SUCH a stupid stereotype
