  1. hey there check out www.uloveny.com, its a great site that's got video reviews of tons of restaurants in manhattan. i've been using it a lot to see what people think of places to eat before i go to them and i find it really helpful! check it out!

  2. I can't give you any dinner recommendations since I wasn't visiting there long enough.

But in the event you need some quick food:

Europa Cafe is a good place for quick sandwiches, wraps, pastries, or salads to go.  You can also eat there, but when you're on the way back to your hotel in the middle of the night, it makes a great, quick stop.  There are several locations, but we visited the one in the middle of Times Square.

Au Bon Pain is also a nice stop.  It's supposed to be traditional French food like pastries (very good), various soups (also good!), sandwiches, and more.  They are located all over New York, even in the airports.  Beware though, it can get kind of expensive.  It is not cheap fast food.

We did eat at a few nicer restaurants while we visited, but we had bad experiences.  For example, Puglia's Italian in Little Italy. We had bad service and just okay food. It wasn't worth the extra trip.  Or Todai, Asian cuisine and sushi.  It was a really great experience for rare foods and tastes. But it's a one-size-fits-all buffet price of around $25.  We spent over $100 just on four people, including my thirteen year old sister who hardly eats anyway.

I hope you find some great places and enjoy your time with your boyfriend!

Btw, avoid the Empire State Building and go to the top of the Rockefeller Center instead.  Less crowds, less waiting, better view, more flexibility, more privacy!  Nighttime view is romantic and breathtaking, and you can see the Emp State building from there anyway.

  3. F.H. Riley's 400 New York Ave. in the heart of Huntington Village,  http://www.fhrileys.com/subindex.php?p=m... .

  4. Alison D, I've found a nice list of restaurants that might help. You can narrow down the New York results by cities close to you. If you visit several of the restaurants you can narrow down wich one would work best for you. http://www.restaurantreviewsratings.com/...

  5. What has being Irish got to do with not knowing anything about New York?   Stupid reasoning.

Katz's Delicatessen on Houston at Ludlow.   Order pastrami on rye, have a pickle, and a Dr. Brown's soda.  Nothing else.  You won't have to order anything else.
