New York set to host MLS All-Star Game
For the first time in 14 years, New York will be hosting the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Game at the Red Bull Arena, which is home to MLS side, New York Red Bulls.
MLS announced the decision this Tuesday and confirmed that the Red Bull Arena will host the annual event on July 27th.
While talking to the media, MLS Commissioner, Don Garber, said that it would be a very good venue to have when the best MLS XI will play against a big football side (most probably a European side).
Red Bull Arena is one of the most spectacular arenas in the world and the passionate supporters from New York will definitely create a great atmosphere for the game.

During the MLS’s first 2 seasons, in 1996 and 1997, New York hosted the All-Star Game. At that time, the old Giants Stadium was used for the marquee event as the East side played against the West side.
Since then, the league has moved forward to a format that actually involves the stars of MLS play against some of the best sides in international football.
In the past, English giants like Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guadalajara-c39463 have played in the All-Star Game as well.
Out of the 8 matches played in the All-Star game, the MLS All Stars have lost just once when Manchester United won 2-1 at the Reliant Stadium in Houston last year.
The crowd on that occasion was a record-breaking 70,000 and much of the same in terms of fan following is expected when the All-Star Game takes place.
This will be the first time that the Red Bull Arena will host such a big game that is important on the basis of finances and media coverage.
The Red Bull Arena is one of the most beautiful stadiums in USA and has a capacity of 25000.
To protect fans from outside elements, the stadium is covered by a translucent roof that adds to the stadium’s beauty. The stadium opened up on March 20, 2010 after the original plan for its’ construction was announced in July 2004.
In May 2010, the Red Bull Arena hosted its’ first international game when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 infront of a 16,371 strong crowd.
So far, the MLS officials have not yet decided as to which team, will play against the MLS All Stars, but they have guaranteed that a very big side will play at the Red Bull Arena this July.
